Course DescriptionThis course offers a range of practical and industry specific skills where the students will gain experience in the service of food and beverage in a range of styles and service environments. Delivery of the course is in a Training Restaurant within the Hospitality Skills Centre which also incorporates a commercial kitchen. Students are provided with the opportunity to apply their skills through various service styles ranging from counter sales through to setting up and service for luncheons and formal dinners. Industry knowledge is broadened through guest speakers and an industry focus day where students tour a commercial enterprise and then visit Regency TAFE with a dining experience in Tiros Restaurant.
PathwaysThis qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in food and beverage service. It can also lead to further study and qualifications in hospitality management, including Bachelor Degrees.
Entry RequirementsGenuine interest in the hospitality industry and sound literacy and numeracy skills.
Other RequirementsTrainees will need to wear closed in black leather shoes, black full or ¾ length sleeve business shirt and black dress pants or black business skirt of respectable length (e.g.: as available from Work Locker in Mt Barker). A display folder, A4 pad, pen and locker padlock are required. Students will be issued with a name badge which is part of the uniform to be worn each week.

This course is delivered by an approved Skilling South Australia training provider, and as such, students may be eligible to be funded for the Training Cost of this course under a Training Guarantee for SACE students (TGSS). ­ From January 2021, students who turn 16 in year 11 will be able to access subsidised training from the beginning of the school year. Please refer to your school's VET Coordinator for more information. This does not cover consumables.

Non-member schools - an additional 15% admin levy up to $250.00 per student.
