Course is 15 weeks in duration.
Course DescriptionStudents who graduate from the Construction Pathways course and wish to further their construction skills in carpentry areas can apply for the Advanced Carpentry Safety Skills program. Students will undertake units of competency from Certificate III in Construction (carpentry). Successful completion of this program may reduce the length of an apprenticeship by one to two years, to be negotiated with the Registered Training Organisation and future employer. Students are required to participate in structured workplace learning in industry.
PathwaysThis course leads to Certificate III courses in a range of different trade areas as well as possibilities in School Based Apprenticeships and full-time Apprenticeships.
Entry RequirementsStudents applying for this course must have successfully completed the Certificate II in Construction Pathways program (or equivalent).
Other RequirementsThe Personal Protective clothing and Equipment provided in 2021 must be re-used in 2022. Doorways shirts must be worn and visible at all times while on site.

Work Placement7 days
Students and their families are responsible for organising 38 hours of Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) in the construction industry. The 38 hours of SWL must be completed by the end of the Term 2 holidays.
SACE DetailsSACE Stage 2, 15 SACE credits
Whilst successful completion of this course results in 15 credits at SACE Stage 2 it does not contribute to an ATAR score because it is not a full Certificate III.

This course is delivered by an approved Registered Training Organisation and as such, students may be eligible to be funded by the CITB.

Selection ProcessStudents will need to have satisfactorily completed the Certificate I in Construction or Certificate II in Construction Pathways or equivalent, be undertaking Year 12 in 2022, completed structured workplace learning and have their Learner's permit to attract CITB.
Orientation DetailsOrientation is undertaken on the first day - Wednesday 9/2/2022. Students to meet at the Building and Construction Centre at Heathfield High School.
Public TransportStudents are required to find their own transport to and from the course.
