Entry RequirementsMust Complete an ‘Upfront Assessment of Needs’ (UAN) test, have a strong interest in Aged Care and a moderate level of Literacy and Numeracy. School and RTO will facilitate and schedule the UAN. Enrolling students must provide evidence of experience within this industry prior to enrolling. Ask your VET coordinator for further details. Students are required to take part in the Upfront Assessment of Needs process. This process includes assessing suitability to ensure there is a good fit between the individual and the qualification of choice. And an on-line assessment in reading, maths and depending on the qualification level, writing too.
Other RequirementsA Department of Human Services (DHS) clearance is required by ALL students prior to starting the course. Because you are classed as a VOLUNTEER student when on work placement the DHS clearance is free of charge. Students can apply by using the following link:

1 weekly session for 35 weeks on a Wednesday from 9.00am – 3.00pm Commencement date: Wednesday, 8 February 2023 Completion date: All delivery will be completed in 2023 with placement and assessment requirements being finalised in February 2024
Work Placement20 days
All students must completed a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in an accredited Aged care Facility and complete performance tasks to achieve competency.

Training Cost$350.00 GST exempt
$350 - Course fees may change in 2022. Course fee covers both Year 1 and Year 2. This cost does not include consumables.
Cost NotesThis course is delivered by a National Accredited Training Organisation with an approved Funded Activities Agreement with Department of Innovation and Skills, and as such, students may be eligible to be funded for the Training Cost of this course under the Subsidised Training List for VET in Schools. From January 2022, students who turn 16 in year 11 will be able to access subsidised training from the beginning of the school year. Please refer to your school's VET Coordinator for more information.

Selection ProcessAn interview will be required for all new students applying into this course. The interview will be conducted at St Francis de Sales College, SA Mt Barker campus. Applicants will be contacted to confirm time and date.
