Course Description | Through a mix of face to face classroom based theory and practical workshop tasks, this course will provide students with a range of practical skills and knowledge to work effectively in the plumbing and services sector and will prepare you for a pathway to an Apprenticeship.
The course will ensure you learn about safe work practices, how to use plumbing pipes, fittings and fixtures to simulate plumbing installations, basic sheet metal practices and basic oxy-acetylene welding and cutting.
This course will give students plumbing skills to apply for an Apprenticeship and start their career in the industry. Employers often prefer applicants who have undertaken a Certificate II in Plumbing Pre Apprenticeship. |
Pathways | On completion of this course, students may complete under a contract of training:
CPC32413 Certificate III in Plumbing
CPC32513 Certificate III in Plumbing (Mechanical Services)
CPC32612 Certificate III in Roof Plumbing |
Entry Requirements | Students in Year 11 will need to demonstrate a genuine interest or experience in the plumbing industry.
Students in Year 11 will also need to undertake the VET Readiness Orientation (VETRO) process in Semester 2, 2021 via a referral process completed at their Home School using an online form.
Once the Home School has completed the referral process, students will be required to undertake a Snapshot Reading and Numeracy Assessment to demonstrate sufficient literacy and numeracy ability. |
Other Requirements | Students will need to bring the following:
charged laptop, scientific calculator, pencil, ruler, notebook and school diary.
Students will be required to wear closed shoes when in the classroom and steel capped boots when completing practical/workshop activities.
Students will be required to wear their school uniform from weeks 1 to 4. 100% cotton long sleeve shirt will be supplied by PEER after week 4. Students will be required to wear long pants (no polyster brands). |

Training Cost | $220.00 GST exempt This training cost may vary in 2022 and does not include consumables.
This training cost is the gap fee payable after subsidised government funding from the Department for Innovation and Skills (VFSS).
For DfE families who qualify for School Card, there may be no cost for this course.
