This course will run from Term 1 to Term 3.
Course DescriptionThis course has been designed to prepare students to gain their qualification as a Group Fitness Instructor, through an interesting combination of practical activities and theory. Students will need to gain their Provide First Aid qualification separately in order to gain the full Certificate III qualification. Due to theoretical demands of this ourse and the level of maturity required to work in the industry as a fitness professional, it is highly recommended that students undertake this course as part of their Year 11 or Year 12 studies.
PathwaysOn completion of the Certificate III qualification, students can begin working as a Group Fitness Instructor in a gym immediately. Students may choose to go on to further study in Certificate IV or Diploma of Fitness, or various specialisation courses with Registered Training Organisation. Future employment could then include Personal Fitness Training, Rehabilitation Specialist, Sports Administrative and Sales.
Entry RequirementsA passion for being active, strong literacy skills and effective time management are essential. Undertaking Year 11 or 12 studies at the same time is highly recommended.
Other RequirementsIndividual students will need to organise completion of the "Provide First Aid" (HLTAID003) certificate separate to the course in order to gain the full Certificate III qualification.

Dates and Times30 weekly sessions at Cornerstone College on Thursdays from 14:00 until 17:00.
Commencement date 10/02/22.
Students will be required to undertake approximately 4-5 additional hours of study a week to complete work books. There will also be 3 full days of training (one per term) at Cornerstone College, in addition to the weekly Thursday afternoon sessions. Dates to be determined.
