Entry Requirements | Must Complete an ‘Upfront Assessment of Needs’ (UAN) test, have a strong interest in Aged Care and a moderate level of Literacy and Numeracy. School and RTO will facilitate and schedule the UAN.
Enrolling students must provide evidence of experience within this industry prior to enrolling. Ask your VET coordinator for further details.
Students are required to take part in the Upfront Assessment of Needs process. This process includes assessing suitability to ensure there is a good fit between the individual and the qualification of choice. And an on-line assessment in reading, maths and depending on the qualification level, writing too. |
Other Requirements | A Department of Human Services (DHS) clearance is required by ALL students prior to starting the course. Because you are classed as a VOLUNTEER student when on work placement the DHS clearance is free of charge.

Dates and Times | 35 weekly sessions at St Francis de Sales College on Wednesdays from 09:00 until 15:00. Commencement date 08/02/23. Completion date: All delivery will be completed in 2023 with placement and assessment requirements being finalised in February 2024 |
Work Placement | 20 days All students must completed a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in an accredited Aged care Facility and complete performance tasks to achieve competency. |

Training Cost | $350.00 GST exempt This training cost may vary in 2023 and does not include consumables but includes GST for materials.
Course fee covers both Year 1 and Year 2.
Students will undertake the VET Readiness Orientation (VETRO) process in Semester 2, 2022 via a referral process completed at their Home School using an online from. Once the Home School has completed the referral process, students will be required to undertake a Snapshot Reading and Numeracy Assessment to demonstrate sufficient literacy and numeracy ability.
This training cost is the gap fee payable after subsidised government funding from the Department for Innovation and Skills (VFSS).
For DfE families who qualify for School Card, there may be no cost for this course.
Non-member schools - an admin levy of $250.00 per student.

Cost Notes | This course is delivered by a National Accredited Training Organisation with an approved Funded Activities Agreement with Department of Innovation and Skills, and as such, students may be eligible to be funded for the Training Cost of this course under the Subsidised Training List for VET in Schools. From January 2022, students who turn 16 in year 11 will be able to access subsidised training from the beginning of the school year. Please refer to your school's VET Coordinator for more information. |

An interview will be required for all new students applying into this course. The interview will be conducted at St Francis de Sales College, SA Mt Barker campus. Applicants will be contacted to confirm time and date. |
