Course DescriptionThis course has been designed to prepare students who are interested in cars and want to know more about how they work. This course provides you with practical hands on experience of how car engines work and the requirements needed to work in a safe work environment. The course is delivered at Mount Barker TAFE SA where students have access to a fully functioning workshop. Some of the activities encountered will include using and maintaining tools and equipment, testing and charging batteries and servicing braking systems. Information provided about this course may be subject to change.
PathwaysAutomotive Serviceperson | Apprenticeship into Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (If employer available)
Entry RequirementsStudents in Year 12 will need to demonstrate an interest or experience in this industry. Students in Year 12 will also need to undertake the VET Readiness Orientation (VETRO) process in Semester 2, 2021 via a referral process completed at their Home School using an online form. Once the Home School has completed the referral process, students will be required to undertake a Snapshot Reading and Numeracy Assessment to demonstrate sufficient literacy and numeracy ability.
Other RequirementsStudents are required to purchase the following Personal Protective Equipment to be used at ALL times in the workshop: * Steel capped boots * Cotton long sleeve work shirt and pants * Safety glasses
